Powershell for Everyone

This may be old news (I think August it was announced), but Microsoft has made the historic decision to open source PowerShell.

You might think to yourself, "What is this?" , or "Who cares?"

Those are good questions.

PowerShell is a scripting language created by Microsoft. It is easy to understand, and helps automate computer tasks. PowerShell enables IT professionals to automate management tasks of devices, and therefore provide a better user experience.

Also - Linux users join in on the fun.

The company I work for has just added a product to our suite earlier this year which relies on PowerShell in order to standardize the delivery of these large scale virtual desktop environments. So needless to say I wholeheartedly believe in this was the right choice by Microsoft.

Command line applications can seem overwhelming at first mostly because they are unfamiliar. Once you've tried a few practical applications of PowerShell you'll be hooked.

If you are looking to invest your time into learning a new technology I cannot more highly recommend PowerShell.
