PowerPoint Corporate Template - Everything you need to know to make it work

[1/4] POWERPOINT CORPORATE TEMPLATE INTRODUCTION

In preparation to this webinar I recorded 4 videos to share the necessary knowledge to better understand how to make a corporate template effective. In this video introduction I share the idea behind this series.

[2/4] HOW APPLY THE POWERPOINT LAYOUTS EFFECTIVELY

Sometimes presentations can be complex but if you have the right layout to apply to the right slide, making them effective will take a second.

In this video I will share how fast you can make slides effective just applying the right layout.

[3/4] HOW TO CREATE CUSTOM POWERPOINT LAYOUTS

In the previous video we have seen how to efficiently solve slides by applying the right layout to the right slide.

What if you don't find the right layout within your slide master?

That is the case in which you need to create a new layout customized to answer your needs. In this second video I will show you how to create the custom layouts used in the first one starting from scratch.

[4/4] POWERPOINT CORPORATE TEMPLATE DOs & DON'Ts

Using the slide master properly is not as intuitive as you could think but if you did it is a revolutionary tool for your efficiency.

Has it ever happened that you find some object on your slides that you click and it does not select? This drove you crazy to the point in which you choose to cover it up with a white box.

What if objects move when you pass from one slide to the next one? You feel the presentation is not consistent?

I this video I will share DOs & DON'Ts to help you solve the most common mistakes when working with the corporate template in PowerPoint.

HOW TO CREATE AN EFFECTIVE CORPORATE TEMPLATE

Consistent communication is the key to giving a brand a voice.

Therefore the infamous corporate template is used in more structured organizations.

However, despite the efforts to design it, it is often not appreciated by users, it is experienced as a constraint and is constantly violated.

A template that becomes a constraint doesn't help anyone.

If you've ever bumped into the business template, it's not your fault.

The problem lies in the fact that templates are designed neglecting people's real needs.

A corporate template is much more than a simple PowerPoint, and it could make the difference by bringing efficiency and effectiveness to the way we work.

In this edition of MLC webinar we will see:

  • A structured methodology to design a Business Template that puts people back at the center
  • The components of a corporate template system (you don't think it's just slides!)
  • A clear explanation of what is the Slide Master in PowerPoint and how it works

Q&A

I have received some great questions during the event and I have decided to collect here the answers.

Q1: How do you make your corporate theme the default one?

Open your template into a new presentation. PowerPoint will load your theme (fonts, colors, style).

First you need to save your theme. So go to Design > Save current theme.

I will call it "clementine" but you can name it as you wish.

Q3: What is the difference between layouts and theme slide?

You can imagine the slidemaster as a box of boxes.

The slidemaster contains themes, each theme contains layout and each layout contains fixed objects and placeholders.

The theme slide controls the style of the presentation (mainly colors and fonts) while each layout controls the structure of the slides.

the objects on the layouts will be replicated only to the linked slides while the objects on the theme will be cascaded to all the layouts and therefore to each slide of the presentation.

For this reason I recommend you not to introduce any element into the theme so that you can keep a good degree of flexibility while creating your presentation.

Q4: How do you reconnect a slide to a new layout?

To connect a slide to a layout you just need to right click the miniature of your slide, select layout and choose the layout you want to associate it with.
