Powering progress with property technology

Powering progress with property technology

September is underway already and it’s the start of the ‘new term’ – that feeling never quite leaves you as the darker evenings move in! I’m excited about what lies ahead for us at the Government Property Agency (GPA), as we continue to consolidate our work and deliver our cutting-edge property technology – GovWifi, GovPass, Gov Print, audio visual and much more

Our PropTech solutions are helping us to work towards a bold vision, creating a transformed government estate – interoperable, shared, sustainable and value for money, supporting civil servants to work productively in every nation and region of the United Kingdom.

Right-sizing and optimising

Data insights we’re gathering from GovPass about the way government buildings are being used pave the way for more informed decision-making. We’re gradually right-sizing the government estate, eliminating wasted space and optimising every square foot for maximum efficiency and sustainability. GovWifi, GovPrint and our AV solution enable interoperability, making movement across the estate seamless and more efficient. We can bring teams together to respond to events and enable communities of practice to meet more flexibly, boosting productivity. And by sharing desk space, meeting rooms and collaboration areas we’re making significant cost savings.

Meanwhile we’re continuously looking to meet our goals and improve everyone’s experience of our technology. User research informs how we hone our products and set ever higher standards of excellence. We consider new technologies and innovate ways to use them. Through close collaboration with teams from across the GPA we can deliver a better, more innovative PropTech service on every project.

Big picture questions

There are also the bigger, visionary questions to debate – how far and wide can PropTech go, what does it look like and how do we get there? How can we create even better value and deliver an even better service? Our newly formed PropTech Knowledge Group is one way that we’re harnessing the know-how and experience of our peers in other departments, learning more about how they do things. And we never stop talking, exploring, networking and reaching out so we can discover more about the power of technology to shape the future of government.

Feels like a good way to start the new term to me.
