Powering Pride at Cummins India Every Day
At Cummins India, we don't just celebrate the Pride Month; we embrace the spirit of inclusion all year round. For us, diversity and inclusion are not just a fundamental company value, but a tradition that has been imbibed in us since our inception and continues to guide us in everything that we do. We recognize that our most important asset is our people, and we are dedicated to fostering an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and embraced for who they are.
This June, we embraced the theme, ‘Powering Pride’, as we acknowledge the power that lies within each one of us to shape a unique journey for ourselves as well as for others. Through our collective efforts, we strive to uplift and inspire each other, fueling a sense of pride that drives positive change and fosters greater acceptance and equity for all.
One of the highlights of our celebrations was the dynamic Pune Pride Parade, organized by Yutak Charitable Trust, which was a powerful demonstration of unity and inclusion. We are also proud to add new Pride allies at Cummins India, who play a crucial role in advocating for the rights and well-being of the LGBTQ+ community, promoting a culture of acceptance and understanding across our organization.
In a significant step toward breaking down barriers, we also announced Gender Reassignment Surgery support for our employees who choose to transition to their self-identifying gender. This, along with other inclusive work policies like gender-neutral washrooms, neutral dress code policy, Pride All program, Know Thy Pronouns, LGBTQ+ Training 101 and more, underscore our dedication to providing a safe, inclusive and caring work environment where all employees can grow and be their full self.

To amplify the message of inclusion, we hosted a special Cummins PowerPods podcast episode featuring Annapurna Vishwanathan, our Chief Information Officer; and Neema Nair, our Technical Director – Engineering. In a captivating discussion, they shared their experiences of being Pride allies and also discussed the thought and essence of impactful policies at Cummins India that foster a truly inclusive workplace where all employees, including LGBTQ+ individuals, can flourish and thrive.
Throughout the month, the Cummins India Pride ERG (Employee Resource Group) organized a series of engaging events that celebrated diversity and nurtured a sense of community among our employees. We proudly hoisted the vibrant Pride flag at multiple Cummins facilities, standing in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. Along with that, the Pride ERG organized many fun events like T-shirt painting competition as well as the Badge designing competition for employees to connect in an engaging way.?
While we celebrate our progress, we recognize there is still a long way to go. At Cummins India, we remain committed to driving change, breaking barriers, and creating an environment where everyone can thrive. Together, by making room for everyone to succeed and by responding with empathy,?we win with the power of difference.
