A customer can actually, consolidate all his database services in a single platform thus, delivering cost efficiencies through the entire IT system …

While working at Dell, we have been able to experiment with Powerflex , and the results have been excellent ..Below is a snapshot of performance metrics for a 6 node Oracle RAC deployed on Powerflex

The performance of 1.7 million IOPS with 0.5 ms latency is quite remarkable

Similarly, when a Big Data cluster was deployed on 4 Powerflex ( R840) nodes with Microsoft SQL Server the performance figures are really impressive :-

A similar test was conducted on MongoDB for a 6 node Powerflex cluster and the results are quite remarkable.The deployment was able to service 2.53 Million IOPS/sec with sub-milisecond latency for 95 % read trasanctions in an 8RU configuration

The engineering team at Dell Technologies decided to experiment with Cassandra and Greenplum as well and the IOPS metrics have been quite astonishing for both

Cassandra : We got around 473k of IOPS/sec with sub-millisecond latency for 100% read operations with sustained throughput

GreenPlum:With VMWare Tanzu on Greenplum, the performance metrics showed up an average of 4GB/sec with 14k IOPS deployed on 10 storage and 12 Compute Nodes

VMWare has infact recommended Powerflex as the preferred hardware for deployment of Greenplum for Analytics Workloads

With so many usecases, across different flavours of databases, I can confidently assert that Powerflex is a clear winner when customers are actually looking to host multiple solutions in a single platform and the perfect usecase of multi-database consolidation across different datatypes
