A PowerBloc? for a Family Farm

Customers use the PowerBloc in many different ways. Our newest?customer in Upstate New York?bought a PowerBloc to?give a family farm, a homestead in Slingerlands, a?legacy and a future.

The farm is as picture-perfect as you can imagine. Meadows, a house, a barn, and a pond to swim in on hot days in the summer.?The farm connects to a different time, when the world seemed whole, like a Rockwell painting.

But the world was already changing as the last slate shingle was laid on the farmhouse roof. The trees the family had cleared to make room for fields and pastures began the slow accumulation of CO2 in the atmosphere. As the family laundry fluttered on the line, the weather was already changing.

Our customer wants to?preserve this magical place–not just its bricks, boards, and shingles but also the?farmland and nature?around it: the blackberry hedgerows and orchards. Climate change, not time, is the biggest threat to this idyll. The customer was clear that?this farm had to eliminate the emission of CO2?from heat and electricity.

The customer began this process by installing?new windows?to keep the cold winter outside. Now, the home will get a PowerBloc with a large ground-mounted solar array. With the?nanogrid?installed, the customer’s EV will charge directly from solar using a?DC-DC charger, and a DC-power?heat pump?will replace the furnace.
