#PowerBI : Thoughts about Visual calculations and Generate measure descriptions with Copilot (preview)

Some thoughts on 2 new #PowerBI features (currently in?Preview, as of last release?2024-02-16):

1/ Visual calculations (preview)

Very interesting new feature! It's a sort of "Quick Measure" mixed with an "Excel" experience that offers, in a sort of "Focus mode", the ability to quickly generate useful calculations such as: Cumulative Sum, Percentage of Grand Total, Compared to Previous ,...

In my case, I'm a big fan of the "RUNNINGSUM" function (still not listed as a new?DAX?one ?) which makes it easy to calculate a running total on an axis without needing to use ALLEXCEPT and EARLIER...

Please note that these #VisualCalculations?:

• do not add new calculated measures to your model because the scope of these calculations is limited to the corresponding visual!
• do not (yet?) support the format option for calculations like "Percentage of grand total". DAX remains your best friend for this ;)

2/ Generate measure descriptions with Copilot (preview)

This feature works only for?Calculated Measures?and requires?Fabric?Capacity?(or?Premium) and the corresponding?rights to work?as mentioned?here

A feature created for documentation purposes and is for measures only. As a big fan of automatic lineage and documentation, it would be great to have a native feature that generates comprehensive documentation with some description suggestions without needing to purchase Premium Capacity. #Copilot could be useful but not necessarily mandatory.
