PowerBall 2018
Malcolm Duncan
Managing Director for UK @ Super Rod & Klein Tools - supporting and inspiring those around me
On Friday 9 November, Super Rod hosted a table at the Electrical Industries Charity event – the Powerball – in London. The event was attended by more than 1,200 people from across the electrical industry and while there was lots of fun and fundraising on the night, what bought these guests together was the reality that not everyone is so lucky.
An injury at work, caring for a loved one, coping with an illness, addiction, mental health issues, the breakdown of a relationship – these are just some of the problems that people working in the industry face, and where the EIC can provide support.
Perhaps the most poignant moment at the event was when the stage was filled with 36 lights – one for every person who was being helped by the Charity when they took their own lives. Each light was for sale for £1000 and every one was gone in a matter of minutes, enabling the Charity to provide support for others that come to them in the same boat.
We’ve all been through times where life has us on the ropes – you might even be there now – but there will always be people that can help, whatever your circumstances. In a recent Facebook poll of Super Rod customers, a third of our followers told us they didn’t find it easy to talk to family or friends about their worries, so we’ve shared the EIC details to our social page to ensure that people who need help can find it.
