As this edition is focused on the power of story – I’d like to share my story with you…

In 2017 my Facebook?sales funnel suddenly stopped worked, overnight I went from having a successful business to literally not having any money coming in.

All the prospects coming onto calls with me couldn’t afford to work with me.

I didn’t know what I was going to do. I’d sunk so much money into Facebook Ads that I didn’t have any capital to fall back on and ended up having to let a lot of my team go.

But did this stop me sinking more money into ads?

No! Following the advice of my then mentor I continued to plough money into Facebook Ads and started running automated webinars instead of live ones. I picked up a few clients but this barely broke even with the ad spend, so I ended up working for free.

I was floundering…not sleeping well and riddled with anxiety 24/7.

What saved me was taking stock of my situation and instead of doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome, I went back to the drawing board to figure out a whole new marketing strategy.

What I realised was that Facebook wasn’t working full stop.

I needed to change platform…and that’s when I realised LinkedIn?was the best platform for me to use to attract my ideal clients.

The great advantage for me using LinkedIn?was there was no risk, as there was no ad spend. It just required some of my time. The surprise for me was how quickly it produced results.

I realised that not only was LinkedIn?the best platform for me, it was also the best platform for other business owners to attract clients.

I started teaching my LinkedIn Quality Leads Formula to my clients and they got amazing results with appointments and clients in just a matter of days after starting to apply their strategy.

It’s been four years since then and I’ve taught hundreds of business owners how to use LinkedIn to grow their businesses.

I’d no idea when I had my failed launch in 2017 that it would have led me to switch platforms and four years later, I’d be seen as an established expert in LinkedIn Marketing.

What I’ve learnt is that challenges in business are opportunities to open to something bigger and better.

We might not be able to see this at the time but if we trust in ourselves, we will come to realise our challenge was actually a good thing.

The Power of Your Story

Right now you might not realise this, but you have a powerful story.

In this training I want to share with you how you can discover your powerful story and start to share it to build a loyal following who want to buy from you and only you.

Why is story so important?

Sharing stories is something we have done for centuries.

Native American elders relied on verbally sharing stories with younger Native Americans to not just entertain but more importantly preserve their culture, customs, and history.

Stories are often easy for us to connect with as they tap into the emotional side of our natures.

Why is it important to share your story?

When you share your powerful story of how you have come to doing the work you are doing today, you will be able to connect with your chosen audience and build a loyal following.

Because people buy for emotional reasons, so they need to like you if they are going to buy from you.

Sharing your story allows your audience to get to know you, to get to like you, and then to get to want to buy from you.

What is your powerful story?

Your powerful story is your hero’s journey.

It is your REAL Story of your journey through your biggest challenge, and how you found the solution to this challenge, which is what has led you to doing the work you are doing today

It needs to share the true, warts and all, story of your experience.

Just like you just saw me do earlier in this newsletter when I shared my story about how I came to be a LinkedIn Marketing Expert.

Don’t think you have a powerful story…think again

If you don’t think you have a powerful story, then you simply aren’t recognising how powerful your story and journey is.

This is understandable because you’ve grown up with your story so it might seem unremarkable to you.

But it’s not the truth. When you start to recognise the power of your story you can start to inspire those you really want to work with.

How can you share your powerful story?

As you might have realised the type of content that is going viral on LinkedIn is personal stories.

I want to share with you a great example of a post that went viral. Maria Malik sharing her personal hero’s journey story that led her to helping people with a fear of public speaking.

Maria’s story works because she shares it authentically. She also writes the story with short sentences which makes it easier to read. It’s great to see that she gained nearly 200k likes, nearly 7000 comments and over 1500 shares. I think you’ll agree this is well deserved.

I also love that her post will have led her to get lots of inbound leads through LinkedIn. I know if I was afraid of public speaking, after reading her post, Maria would be the person I would want to work with.
