The Power of Your Personal Image
A personal brand isn't just something for business owners or public figures. Everyone has a personal brand. Knowing how to maximize yours will give you an advantage in your career. A personal brand is how others see you — including your values, personality, achievements, experiences and actions.
Personal image is a powerful part of your personal brand. How you show up physically has an effect on you and those around you.
Do you know about?enclothed cognition? Consider if the President of the European Union arrived at the G7 wearing a hoodie, jeans and flip flops. Would her colleagues take her seriously? Imagine arriving at your doctor's appointment to be greeted by your physician with dark circles under her eyes, messy hair, and dressed like an auto mechanic, covered in grease. Would you put your full trust in her? What if you attended an important meeting in clothing that was too tight and which you did not like. Would you feel at ease, and be able to give your full attention to the agenda?
Let's use neuroscience to think of your personal image in another way. As neuroscience for business expert Bogdan Manta explains, a message must contain the following 6 attributes in this order, if it's going to persuade and impact decision.
The message must be:
Your message begins before you speak or write. It's nonverbal. Your physical presence sends the first message.
How others perceive you is just one part of the picture. How you perceive yourself is just as (if not more) important.
When you feel good about your image, your confidence goes up. Others sense that and react positively. You create a positive feedback loop.

The opposite occurs when you think negatively about your image. It's easy to over-complicate things and feel like change is too difficult. Thoughts like this might go through your mind:
I don't know how to decide what to wear at this stage in my life/body/career. I don't want to dress too young or too old.
No one ever taught me how to wear makeup, and now I'm too old to learn.
It seems like so much work to figure out what suits me.
If I change things I'll have to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe, and that's so wasteful and expensive.
I dislike shopping and don't know where to go anymore.
I don't know where to start, so I’ll just keep doing what I’ve been doing.
Finding solutions doesn't have to be complicated or overwhelming. Makeup artist?Natalie Setareh?and I?have developed the Create Your Signature Look program to support professionals in defining and streamlining their personal image for career success.
We teach you your personal, repeatable style and makeup formulas to express your "inside" just as authentically on the "outside".
Create Your Signature Look is an eight-week program based on live, online private lessons. Just twice a year we offer eight individuals the opportunity to fast track updating their personal image to match their professional success.
Click here for full details. Registration opens September 14 and the program starts October 6, 2022.
