Power Your Golf Swing with This!

Power Your Golf Swing with This!

All golfers want a powerful golf swing and it starts with a stable forward flexion - or addressing the ball.? Believe it or not, many golfers are not balanced and stable while they address the ball.? They may have a curved spine, they may stand too tall (we want a good 30-40 degree bend at the hips), knees too bent and more. Establishing this foundation is vital to a powerful golf swing!

The 4 Pillars of the Golf Swing:

  • Forward Flexion (addressing your ball)
  • Internal Hip Rotation (Take away and follow through)
  • Lateral Flexion (side bend during the top of your swing, impact position and follow through)
  • Thoracic Rotation - (mid and upper back area). This is the area where rotation is supposed to occur (hint...not the low-back or lumbar area). If you aren't able to maintain forward flexion in the swing, this is where many swing flaws take place. You can lift up, straighten your trail leg as you take the club back, have a flatter swing plane, get chicken wings, and much more.

This is where the TrueTurnPro is a game-changer for golfers.? What is the True Turn Pro and what makes the TrueTurnPro so effective?

The TrueTurnPro is a medical device created specifically to help golfers improve their golf swing.? Fortunately, any sport that has rotation in it, will benefit from the True Turn Pro.? Quite honestly, any person needs this device to keep our spines healthy.

What makes this device special? The TrueTurnPro has contralateral arms that attach or rest to your chest area while your hands hang on to the arms.??

Some of you may still be saying...so what!?

It does get better....

With the contralateral arms, they help isolate the thoracic spine at the same time, now your arms and shoulders are locked into position. Your arms and shoulders can't do the work and give you a false sense of rotation or movement.??

The other great thing that is happening...because your upper body (upper kinetic chain is locked), NOW you'll start engaging the muscles you truly want to engage in an activity. We know we can easily compensate different exercises by using other muscles to perform an activity.

You can see the contralateral arms attached to my pecs and my arms and shoulders move in unison.? Now my body will get the rotation that I'm looking for or the isolation I'm looking for.

When we are training for forward flexion, we want to use your hamstrings, glutes, and back muscles (our posterior chain). When we can use our posterior chain properly, we will also be using our feet and creating power from the ground up. What does that give you?? More power in your golf swing!

The above exercise is a great way to open up the hamstrings and posterior chain.? With the TrueTurnPro (TTP) in a flat plane position, keeping knees straight, hinge forward at the hips.? Keep the back flat on this exercise.? Raise up slowly.? Repeat 5-8 repetitions.

Let's add some power to this forward hinge.? Place a heavy dumbbell in the middle of your stance.? Loop a light band under the dumbbell while attaching to each end of the TTP.??

Slowly hinge at the hips and ENGAGE that posterior chain.? Feel this in your feet, hamstrings, and glutes as you raise up.? You'll feel this in all the right places.? Remember, since your upper kinetic chain is locked, it is requiring your lower kinetic chain to truly activate.? You are building ground reaction force.

I can guarantee, that little resistance band makes a HUGE difference in this exercise.? You will feel very powerful when you are finished.

Do 5-8 repetitions, 2-3 sets of this exercise.? ?
