The Power of 'You'
One of my colleague was sitting with me at my office, sharing his success story of having brought in some new segment of business, amidst stiff competition from the best in the world, by way of “outward thinking”. I could gather from his story that it was his sheer passion and perseverance that made him accomplish this success in a total period of about nine months. The place of work was outside India, and hence the challenges were higher considering difference in culture, unfamiliarity and such aspects.
This made me suggest him to put together the incidence so that it is a learning for all of us – I suggested him the title - The Power of ‘You’. Indeed, each one of us have an exorbitant potential, which we fail to recognize. If we get self motivated to be able to look at this potential, we could exploit it for our own benefit. The Power of ‘You’ is immense.
We all live in a community, and often compare ourselves to others who are superior to us, realizing that we are inferior to them – we do not bother to be attentive to people to whom we are superior, which usually could motivate us. This is an inborn aptitude that we all develop owing to the way we have been raised, wherein the environment around us only focuses on our mistakes. We have always been advised on what we should not do, where we are going wrong, eventually making us visit the ‘room of dejection’ more often that we would want. This creates a gloomy atmosphere in our mind, and seldom enables our self-motivation. The need of the hour is to modify our outlook and commence looking at the brighter side of life. We need to introspect our strengths and start concentrating on how we could leverage them, rather than worry about our weakness. We can certainly focus on identifying techniques that would help us to transform our weakness into strengths, but we need not get bogged down by them. This is a paradigm shift in the approach that we have been taught since our childhood, hence could take longer time for us to comprehend.

4 年Manoj Kabre well written and thank you. One should focus on what “you will do” and not on what you won’t do!
