Through close collaboration and communication they coordinated hunting and gathering activities, requiring them to build strong relationships with both males and females to ensure successful outcomes. This skill remains essential today, where all must live and work together harmoniously within an increasingly diverse society.

?Transitioning to the Middle Ages, women faced the disruptive violence of war, disease and famine, which significantly influenced our survival skills. As those disruptions ravaged societies, women had to adapt and take on new responsibilities. The absence of men due to warfare compelled women to manage households, estates, and businesses, developing a pragmatic approach to decision-making and resource management. This experience honed our attention to detail and strategic thinking skills.

?As we enter the modern era, women are expected to juggle multiple roles, such as professionals, mothers, partners, and caretakers. We must navigate the demands of our careers whilst fulfilling familial and societal expectations. Women have really stepped up, and seamlessly embraced the balancing act of professional careers and personal lives. Our multitasking prowess and time management skills have been finely honed, enabling us to navigate the demands of both spheres with grace and efficiency. Such adaptability and time management acumen are invaluable for enterprise architects who thrive in fast-paced, ever-changing environments.

?When we reflect on the journey through time, we find that the experiences and roles of women form a foundation that laid the groundwork for the shared core capabilities women and enterprise architects. Drawing from our collective history, women bring a wealth of diverse skills, qualities and perspectives that contribute to the vibrant tapestry of core capabilities withing the field of Enterprise Architecture.

#EnterpriseArchitects possess a very wide range of #capabilities. In this article however I am not focusing on all of them. Since female peers in my chosen profession are sparse I really want to zoom in on the capabilities women developed and honed throughout history as a part of their changing roles in society. And maybe I can inspire other women to become an enterprise architect as well.

Collaboration and Communication: Women's historical roles as gatherers, household managers, and multitaskers have nurtured our ability to collaborate effectively and communicate with diverse stakeholders. These qualities empower us to foster teamwork, bridge gaps, and ensure clear alignment—an indispensable asset for enterprise architects.

Holistic Thinking and Attention to Detail: Throughout history, women have showcased a holistic perspective, considering various factors in decision-making processes. We possess the rare ability to grasp the bigger picture while meticulously attending to detail. This capability enables us to analyze complex systems and identify critical connections, aligning seamlessly with the multifaceted nature of enterprise architecture.
