The Power Within Us

Reference texts: Ephesians 3:20-21

One of my favorite movies is The Incredibles – a Disney-Pixar? animated film which chronicles the life of a family of superheroes who must blend into society as ordinary citizens.? What intrigues me about the parents is that they decide to withhold their superhero status from their children in an apparent effort to make the blending-in process easier.

In one of my favorite scenes, the oldest child Violet and her brother Dash are in danger.? By accident, Violet discovers that she can use her hands to create a shield of protection around anything she points to.? Initially, the power scares her.? It then frustrates her because she can’t get it to work like she wants to.? Practicing towards perfection, she continues to wield her power until she’s able to save their lives.

So it is with us.? God has given receptive believers the power of the Holy Spirit to dwell within us.? As we realize the power within, we can use it for good to manifest power outside of ourselves.? God can use that power to do exceedingly abundantly above anything we can ask or think - that’s three levels above our wildest imaginations!? The caveat here is that our requests must bring glory to God.? Let’s tap into the power He’s given us, and watch Him do amazing things for us and through us that will bring Him glory!
