Happy New Year and welcome to my first 3 highlights for 2023!
You might have noticed that I skipped the December edition of the newsletter – not because I didn’t have anything to share, but because I was too busy organizing the Global Virtual Summit on Habit Change & High-Performance Habits that I’ll be co-hosting next week…
Have you ever said “YES!” to an opportunity without realizing how much time & effort it would require? Well, that’s pretty much what happened when my friend Ron Kaiser, Ph.D. and I decided to organize this summit.
This is the first big online event we are organizing and it’s been a steep learning curve, that’s for sure!
So today, my 3 January highlights will focus on sharing what I’ve learned in the process:
1.??Mindset: The power of “WHY NOT?”
When I told people about the summit I’m organizing, many asked me “Why are you doing this? It’s so much hard work…” What I know now is that they are absolutely right: It IS a lot of hard work.
But while it’s challenging it’s also a lot of fun and super interesting. It’s just so inspiring to talk to all those amazing scientists, top entrepreneurs, and high-performance experts from all around the world and to learn more about their research, insights, and experiences.
I believe that in life there’s no one-size-fits-all solution to health, happiness, and productivity.
We all need to find the set of high-performance habits that works for us right now. And those habits might have to change over time as you adapt to new circumstances in your life.
The point is: You get to pick, choose and customize your habits and my mission for this summit is to provide you with different science-based tools, techniques, and strategies that you can mix & match in order to find the perfect set for you right now.
So the mission for the summit is perfectly aligned with my values and the mission for my podcast & coaching business which is to help ambitious, mission-driven entrepreneurs build million-dollar businesses without sacrificing their health, relationships, or happiness.
That’s why I said: “Why NOT?” rather than “Why??” when Ron asked me to organize this summit with him.
I think sometimes ignorance is bliss when it comes to starting new projects: If we knew exactly how much hard work it took to achieve a challenging goal – would we still decide to go forward and pursue it?
Sadly, for a lot of people, the answer is “no”. They have trained their brains to focus on the sacrifices and threats instead of the opportunities and the things that make the effort worthwhile.
If this is you, and you find yourself shying away from opportunities because you are afraid that it could be too hard, here’s a tip:
Next time you come across a challenging, but exciting opportunity that is aligned with your values, priorities & goals – try the power of “Why NOT?” before you talk yourself out of it. If you’re truly excited about the opportunity, you’ll figure everything out as you go. And even if it doesn’t work out in the end – at least you gave it your best shot, you learned a ton, and you don’t have to live with regrets.
