The Power of the Who

The Power of the Who

Two days. That’s how long it took between opening my first business and delivering my newborn daughter, who arrived 21 days early. Nothing about that moment went as planned—but 20 years later, I sold that business for a profit.?

Looking back, I know what made the difference in my success: Who I surrounded myself with.

This hit home for me last month at a Women’s Retreat, where I spent a full day surrounded by 40 female business owners who reminded me of the power of community. I overheard many female owners talking about pivoting, how to stop procrastination, and learning better tools to manage cash flow and their time.?They were having real conversations with others who get what they are going through.

In addition, I had the privilege of being able to speak to this audience on strategies to attract more customers into their business and it warmed my heart to see the audience taking many notes and asking really engaging questions on how they could increase referrals in their small businesses. ? I left the retreat recharged, made new business friends and a deepened sense of purpose and energy to keep growing my business. ??

Here’s the truth: Business ownership can feel lonely, but it doesn’t have to be. Surrounding yourself with the right people—those who get it—is the key to staying motivated and solving challenges.

Who’s in your corner right now? Are you surrounded by people who inspire you and push you to grow?

There is a popular quote " You are the average of the five people you surround yourself with the most" ~ Jim Rohn

When it comes to building a thriving business my recommendation are to surround yourself with these five:

  1. Someone a few years ahead of you who has been there and done that.
  2. Someone younger than you to help you stay relevant and relatable.
  3. Someone in your industry.
  4. Someone outside of your industry.
  5. Someone who you can be real with and not feel judged.

Your reality is that it is hard to thrive in business until you start allowing others to come alongside you and help you. There is to much to do and to much to keep track of by yourself.

After starting my business with a newborn baby, weathering many challenges of ownership and surviving the recession of 2009. I know For. A. Fact. I would not have been as successful or profitable without the who's in my life.

If you feel frustrated, stuck, isolated, lonely, or tired of making all the decisions, I would love to be your who.? I offer a complimentary, no-strings-attached 30-minute chat about your business session.? Let’s tackle your challenges together—schedule your free 30-minute session now
