Power Up
I took a couple weeks off from blogging Monday Motivation. Memorial Day, May 31, an American holiday, where we remember our military heroes especially those that paid the ultimate sacrifice. Then this past week, I took some time away for a little relaxation with my husband. It was my second trip this month and it felt like I was getting back into the air travel groove.
Unplugging. The kids were squared away. I had let my clients and team know that I was taking some time off and put my out of office message on my e-mail box. There were just a couple of things that I needed to get done…each day. I was still able to balance that with a lot of rest, relaxation, hiking and dining. On this trip and for this week, I was able to recharge while choosing to stay somewhat plugged in.
Full strength. One of the things that I didn’t want to miss last week was an all-team Strategy & Growth meeting. First, I always love talking about the work our team does within the Population Health Practice. Second, I had the opportunity to talk about compassion and self-care. My boss, Dr. Keith Shah, PhD, shared a great HBR article over the weekend about the very topic, How Working Dads Can Prioritize Self-Care. Mr. Braswell imparts a lot of great wisdom in this piece, “Self-care is intentional.” We all start somewhere and it’s important that we start before we’re too weak to plug ourselves into a power source.
