The power of unity: Leading by example and building strong teams

Lead by Example to create united teams!

In today's fast-paced business world, the key to success lies not only in the talent of individuals but in the strength of the team. Effective leadership is the cornerstone of building that cohesive unit where everyone feels valued and motivated to be - and do - their best.

Leading by example is key!

To lead others effectively, we must first lead ourselves. This means living and embodying the values, work ethic, and attitudes you want to see in your team. When leaders show commitment, resilience, and integrity, they set a powerful example for others to follow.

This authenticity creates trust and respect. Both are essential for powerful and successful team dynamics.

A leader who positions themselves as part of the team – and not as someone above them telling them what to do – fosters a sense of unity. A unified team operates with a shared vision and collective purpose. This inspires increased collaboration, productivity and morale.?

Jon Saunders, Founder of Crack On, recently had the pleasure of facilitating the Crack On Leadership Programme at Muntons Plc. Two leaders with nearly one hundred years’ experience between them were part of the group. Instead of resting on their knowledge and experience, and simply participating with the discussions around the different leadership models, they had their pens and paper at the ready all day.

Cracking On with Munton's Leaders

Jon was reminded of Robert Cialdini’s 6 Principles of Influence, and the principle of unity in particular. What leads people to say ‘yes’? How can leaders develop productive relationships with their teams to achieve optimal working success??

Leaders who can position themselves as part of the team - the ‘us’ - foster cohesion. An authentic connection and understanding between the leader and the team is key. Leaders need to be prepared to continuously learn and grow with the team, to walk in their shoes, take notes, and pose challenging questions.

Strong leadership is about more than directing and managing. It’s about leaders who can create an environment where every team member feels valued and motivated to contribute.

Why not contact Crack On today and see how we can help you create a sense of? ‘us’ within your team to help you achieve your shared goals?

On the Crack On Podcast – The Olympics, Tony Buchanan, and influential leadership

With just over 40 days to go, the excitement around the start of the Olympics is building. One of the original values included in the Olympic Charter was to ‘develop harmony’ – a value that has evolved into the concept of ‘friendship’ in later years.

It underlines that the Olympic Games exist to bring people together. It is symbolic of the idea that there is more that unites us than divides us, which is very much the prerequisite for a high-performing team.

Staying with the idea of influential leaders, unity and the Olympics, we are thrilled to welcome Tony Buchanan, a trailblazing leader and the co-founder of Absolute Performance to the Crack On Podcast.

Here is the link if you’ve not caught up with this episode yet.

Tony Buchanan- Co-founder of Absolute Performance on the Crack On Podcast

Absolute Performance is renowned for its contribution to the world of sports. They are the chosen suppliers of state-of-the-art gym equipment to Team GB at the Olympic Games for the second season. Tony’s vision and leadership have been instrumental in shaping a company that stands at the forefront of sports performance and training.

Tony’s journey is testament to the power of influential leadership. From humble beginnings to becoming leaders in designing, installing and equipping high performance training and gym spaces, Tony has demonstrated that true leadership is about more than just guiding a company. It’s about inspiring the people that work there - and the wider community.

Under his guidance, Absolute Performance has not only equipped athletes with the tools they need to succeed but has also fostered an environment of innovation, dedication, and relentless pursuit of excellence.

They have bolstered their management structure by promoting from within the company. This is a powerful example of the huge trust that is placed in the team and the commitment to their professional development. It’s a company where people want to stay and grow, and it’s definitely all about ‘us’ at Absolute Performance.

Tune into this insightful conversation between Tony Buchanan and Jon Saunders, Founder of Crack On, and be inspired by a leader who not only sets the bar high but whose values and ethos lifts those around him to achieve greatness – in true spirit of the Olympics itself.
