The Power of TOM.

The Power of TOM.

Have you ever stood in a crowded auditorium or arena?

People to the left of you loud and rowdy while those on your right are giving them a run for their money. What does it take to be top of mind in a crowd like that.

That’s the question you need to ask yourself when it comes to your marketing. The average 20 years ago was that you would come in contact with a brand an average of 5 – 6 times before you purchased from it. Today it’s more around 12-14 times.

The challenge marketing faces today.

Today’s buyers are so bombarded by marketing messages that we’ve learned to turn it off. We literally deafen and blind ourselves to the noise of traditional commercial messaging.

Don’t believe me?

I’ll give you an example. According to the Nielsen market research group the average person consumes an average of 11 hours of media per day. Now that’s not just TV. That’s internet, radio, magazines, etc. The average consumer was exposed to up to 10,000 brand messages per day in 2018 according to the American Marketing Association.

So, let’s say that you have the focus of monk and are able to block out ?’s of that messaging and only 2,500 sneaky little ninjas sneak past your defenses. That means yesterday you saw at least TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED brand messages.

Name 10….

Don’t cheat. Right off the top of your head, name 10.

I can tell you out of the 500+ times I’ve asked this question in person, to include the first time I was asked: I can tell count on 2 hands with fingers left over how many people were actually able to do this. (And I have a STRONG suspicion that every one of them just started naming commercials to win!)

So, do you see why I say the question you should ask yourself what it would take to be top of mind in an arena full of a rowdy crowd?

What's the solution?

That’s what your marketing message has to overcome in order to earn you a sale.

Not only does it have to get heard by your potential customers, it has to stand out to the point where you are top of mind of your potential customers at the exact time they’re ready to make a purchase.

Now before you close shop and go into a deep depression thinking about what a huge task this is, and with traditional marketing it is a monumentally expensive feat, please bear in mind it isn’t the end of the story.

You see in today’s world, your business can develop and execute a multiplatform, multimedia, relationship nurturing sales system. At a fraction of the cost and time it would have previously taken, I would ad.

I know, I know, I just geeked out on you, but understand what this means! This means that local businesses can compete with huge corporations IF they have a well-integrated system.

Please don’t ignore the “if”. The other part not to ignore is how quickly your competitors are catching on to this fact. It was about 5-10 brief years ago that people would still debating whether or not the main stream public would ever get comfortable with purchasing off line subjecting themselves to potential identity theft. Now online holiday sales rival if not surpass in-store purchases.

Ecommerce sales are projected to surpass $740B by 2023. Yes that's BILLION. The winners in this explosion of available dollars are going to be the brands that approach their marketing holistically.

Engaging their audience on multiple platforms with multiple media. Taking advantage of micro-moments while always providing value at each stage of the customer journey that moves the needle.

We've already been seeing the results a system like this can produce for brand growth. We're seeing more and more companies across nearly every vertical experience explosive growth while providing a better customer experience from lead to purchase and beyond with the right digital strategy in place.

Which means if you one of the companies that haven’t at least began mapping out what a well-integrated digital sales strategy/system to move your brand into the new era, then YOU BETTER GET BUSY, because your competitors are most likely already at it!
