Why is Number "3" very Important & Magical?? Is that because 2 is too less and 4 is too Much? ;)
It all comes down to the way we humans process information. We have become proficient at pattern recognition by necessity, and three is the smallest number of elements required to create a pattern.
Here are few interesting facts about Number 3 and My thoughts as a recruiter on how we can Implement the power of 3 with Candidates & Hiring Managers
- Three is the number of time: Past Present Future, Birth Life Death, Beginning Middle End.Three is the first number that forms a geometrical figure – the triangle. When it comes to pleasing the human brain, it seems like three is simply a magic number. At least that’s what Schoolhouse Rock taught us as kids. For example, I remember my Kindergarten Storytelling days, The Three Musketeers, The Three Bears, the Three Wise Men etc etc
- Three is the Number of Magic: We are all familiar with the expression “third time lucky”. In fairy tales, the magical number is always 3. It’s no accident that the number three is pervasive throughout some of our greatest stories, fairy tales, and myths. It's all in the name of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. So this is the power of three in full effect.
- In life, we are mostly given three choices or three tests so that we overcome difficulties in the third try .. What have we been taught on the principles of life- to speak good, think good & act well. Even if we have to lie, there are three degrees of lies: Lies – Damned Lies – Statistics. You might also find that whenever we give options with three items it will draw people in because you’ve boiled things down to the essence with no fluff. And there’s a reason why people like to be presented with three choices rather than two or five.
Did you notice that I have only 3 bulletins added above;)
So How can we apply "3" rule Candidates with Hiring Managers & Candidates?
So how can you apply this when you present your candidates to hiring managers? Simply enough, whenever you give a reason, justification or examples for anything give three reasons, three justifications or three examples. Three reasons why a candidate would be an excellent fit. Three justifications for a higher salary for a particular candidate and three examples to prove that the candidate has the relevant experience. You'll find that this delivers more impact.
Bottom Line-Phrase, Structure your Ideas with "Rule of Three" in Personal & Work Life!! Has worked for me, May work for you as well!!
