Power of Technology on Full Display at CES

Two weeks ago,?I left?the?snow-covered?Washington,?D.C.?area and headed to sunny Las Vegas to?attend CES 2022.?This?was?my first time at CES and I was excited to gather with?leaders from around the world?and learn about the new and innovative products being?developed.?CES was the perfect venue to kick off the year?because?it?is where the world gathers to experience the next generation of technology –?something we are heavily invested in.?We’re investing because tech has never been more important in our lives, and we believe the future of travel will be human-centered, data-driven and tech enabled.??

After?sitting down with media?to talk about Marriott?International’s new?Design Lab, I?participated in a?fascinating panel?about upgrading travel experiences?with Jayne Poynter, CEO of Space Perspective and Keith Waldron,?founder and director of the Departure Lounge.?We had a?terrific?dialogue about?how technology can bring travel experiences to new heights.?And new heights take on a whole new meaning for Jayne because she’s offering travel to?outer space.?

The highlight of my time was exploring the CES show floor.?It is amazing how?many?of technological innovations?I saw. Many of them?may one day be critical to how we run our business at Marriott International.?Some?of the innovations were focused on?how?people?will experience travel?with?advances in transportation,?the next generation of video cameras, and most importantly new ways to?continue to?help keep guests and associates safe?and healthy when they travel.?I was also impressed by the startup community. There were?more than 800?businesses from around the world?with incredible ideas for the future,?showcasing sustainability tech, artificial intelligence-enabled inventions, and even an air taxi. ?

I’m so?thrilled to have had the?opportunity to be at CES 2022 to fully experience the future in person. It was great to be?back on the road.?While virtual tools have kept us?somewhat connected?over the past two years, nothing can replace meeting people face-to-face and having real-life experiences.?
