The power of supporting female founders

The power of supporting female founders

Some days I forget I’m actually a female founder… I get so excited talking to women that have started their businesses, and even more excited when they agree to speak at a Miss Collective event, that it's a bit of the old confidence gap that has me forgetting that I run a pretty great business too (albeit on a small scale!) And I'm pretty fortunate to get to do it alongside my best friend, and have it work seamlessly, which isn't always the story you hear with partnerships & cofounders!

After being so inspired by podcasts (Mixergy is my favourite if you haven't checked it out) and being a part of Facebook groups such as Like Minded Bitches Drinking Wine (LMBDW), it's easy to get excited about what women in business are doing in our country today. Hearing such inspiring local stories, I got really passionate about organising a Female Founders series to run in parallel with all our Miss Collective & SheSays events. We've got insanely talented women doing things in our own backyard, and it’s so inspiring to hear how people have actually "done it", with the goal to keep encouraging our audience and pay it forward. And it's amazing what we can achieve when we support each other… That's what groups like LMDBW is great for, a group of women wanting to support female led businesses and give back - it makes such a difference.

I look at our Female Founders line up, and I am truly humbled and in awe of these women. Justine Flynn and her husband Daniel are achieving such phenomenal things, and grounded in such integrity & selflessness. As a social enterprise that exists to fund life-changing water, food and hygiene and sanitation projects, I can’t think of a more humbling and inspiring reason to support what they do. I consciously choose Thankyou products with the knowledge that their profits actually go back into changing the world.

I can’t wait to hear from Justine Flynn at our first of many Female Founders event, and utterly grateful that Cyan Ta’eed not only is next in line to speak but has been kind enough to host the series at Envato offices in Melbourne CBD.

If you’re an entrepreneur, have a start up, or just want to be inspired, I hope to see you at our upcoming event! Introduce yourself to me, I love getting to know our supportive and amazing community, and hear your individual stories!

Tickets available here and includes canapés, Thankyou water & wine.
