Reflecting on my past, the concepts of "power" and "strength" always seemed alien to me. I used to see "power" as synonymous with domination and "strength" as merely a physical trait. These definitions never quite resonated with my personal experiences or aspirations. However, my journey with my personal trainer (PT) has led me to rethink these notions profoundly
The Shift: Embracing a Different Measurement of Success
One pivotal moment stands out vividly. My PT suggested focusing less on weight and more on inches and dress size. Initially, this shift felt unusual, almost counterintuitive, but it gradually began to symbolise something much deeper than fitness goals. It reframed my understanding of "progress" and "success." Rather than being confined to a number on a scale, success began to encompass inner strength and the celebration of achievements that are often overlooked
Finding Physical Strength: The 55kg Overhead Lift
Last week I recall the day I lifted 55kg overhead for the first time. The weight felt daunting, and doubts clouded my mind. Could I really do this? But the moment I succeeded, a surge of triumph washed over me. It was more than a physical feat; it was a testament to the hard work paying off in ways I hadn’t fully realized until a friend mentioned how she had been striving for the same goal for a long time. This reinforced the idea that perseverance leads to profound accomplishments
Discovering Inner Power: Mental Resilience and Self-Belief
This journey has taught me that physical strength is intimately connected to mental resilience. Pushing through physical challenges requires a positive mindset and an unwavering belief in oneself. It’s about transforming doubt into determination and setbacks into opportunities for growth. Embracing this new perspective, I’ve come to appreciate the true essence of power and strength—qualities that are as much about mental fortitude as they are about physical capability Takeaway: Don’t Underestimate Your Strength and Power.
In conclusion, my journey with my personal trainer is not only reshaping my body but has also fundamentally altered my understanding of power and strength. It is a journey of inner and outer transformation, where success is measured by personal growth and resilience beyond the physical realm. My point is, you should never underestimate the power and strength you have in yourself, and by doing so, you can hold yourself back.
Remember, acknowledging your own strength is the first step in unlocking it.
