The Power of Story - and Women!
One of my favorite stories of the past year was Hidden Figures, the story of brilliant and accomplished women mathematicians who, although they arguably changed the course of history and our space program, they were insufficiently recognized in their time.
Storytelling is such a powerful vehicle for inspiring and incenting action. Two of my favorite stories, appropriate for International Women’s Day, are about young women who are taking action and making a difference in their communities.
Paola and her team of DIY Girls are engaged with the problem of homelessness and designed a solar powered tent that could improve conditions for people on the streets.
Zaina questioned why there were not girls who looked like her at the robotics competition and decided to start a Saturday STEM and robotics training for middle school girls at her Mosque.
You can treat yourself to Paola’s story here and Zaina’s story here and if you have stories about inspiring women of any age, please tell them or link to them in the comments!
