The Power of Story: Building Foundations Through Love and Authenticity

As parents to two incredible kids, my partner and I navigate the joys and challenges of raising two smart, kind, and enterprising young people—each with their own unique story.

One is our biological child, and the other joined our family through love.

Their stories—where they come from, who they are, and why—are the foundation stones of their identities, much like the stabilisers on a bike.

In the world of fostering and adoption, these stories can sometimes be incomplete, unclear, or missing altogether. And without stabilisers, the journey can sometimes get a bit wobbly.

So, yes, we know there will be challenges ahead. We know sometimes it won't be fun. But the rewards, the joys and the magical moments far outweigh any of them. And we're constantly learning, growing, and moving forward together until the day when we’re ready to take those stabilisers off.

In any form of communication—whether creative or personal—truth, authenticity, and the ability to make our stories resonate with our audience are the cornerstones of our approach.

For kids like ours, this couldn’t be more critical or more true.
