In the grand symphony of life, sometimes we can find ourselves swept away by everything big and fast.
Grand gestures, monumental leaps and wanting all the latest shiny objects, is exciting beyond words but equally they can leave us feeling completely overwhelmed and I don't know about you, but when I am overwhelmed, I freeze, I become stuck, and I can't think straight. Not only do I not know how I am going to keep up with all the things I need to do, but I completely forget that, in amongst drive and ambition, there can exist a gentler underlying current that is the real secret to success — a reminder that greatness often emerges from the diligent and consistent repetition of small actions.
Picture this: You wake up every morning with a burst of determination, ready to conquer the world. You have this vision of big goals, you sketch out ambitious plans, and embark on your journey with the purpose of a warrior charging into battle.
Then the day starts, the pressure of getting everything done starts to relentlessly weigh down on you. Suddenly, you are getting up from your desk and doing the pantry waltz for the 20th time and the clarity and determination you woke up with this morning is replaced by confusion and overwhelm, leaving you frozen and surrounded by half-finished notes, 20 open tabs and empty chocolate wrappers.
Then of course, we start comparing ourselves to others who appear to be kicking goals and achieving so effortlessly. We may not realise that their success is a result of the humble power of consistency—the simple act of doing small things every day. It is seriously just an illusion that you can only be successful by making huge efforts and monumental strides.
Even the biggest and most brilliant oak tree, starts its journey as a tiny acorn buried in the earth. It takes the holy trinity of growth, sunlight, water and time for it to grow steadily, until one day it finds itself standing tall and formidable against the sky.
It is the same for us. We start our journey small and we need nourishment, support and time to grow and stand tall.
Why is consistency so powerful? The answer simply lies in the forming of habits—the gradual reshaping of our beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors, through repeated practice. When we commit to doing small things every day, we are not merely performing rote actions; we are shaping who we want to be, and creating new ways of thinking that are more positive and more permanent.
More importantly, consistency breeds confidence—a quiet assurance that comes from the knowledge that we are capable of showing up for ourselves, day in and day out. As we witness and celebrate the incremental progress of our efforts, we begin to trust in our own abilities, crushing that inner critic and getting rid of the doubt that plagues us.

Of course, there will be times when I am not the fierce warrior woman I aspire to be, (I know...hard to believe but it's true!). I might not have gotten the contract, I have worked so hard to win, or I may have failed at launching my new online course that I have been working on for months and I just want to go somewhere and hide and wallow in my failings. These are the days when I just want my procrastination slippers, my magical hideaway blanket and something trashy to transport me on Netflix because the world seems like a scary place. However, it is exactly in these moments of struggle that we truly see what we are made of and how desperately we want to reach our dreams.
How quickly we can bounce back will determine our success.
If we can see that there are always going to be obstacles standing in our way, and it is our ability to navigate them calmly and with grace that actually contributes to our grit and resilience.
So, my fierce one, I invite you to embrace the power of small—to revel in the beauty of incremental progress and the quiet triumph of daily effort.
Let’s give ourselves grace and let go of the overwhelm and perfectionism, and instead, celebrate the simple joys of consistency.
Ultimately, what shapes our future isn't how big our actions are, but rather how consistently we chase our dreams, taking small steps along the way.
