Semiconductor Books

Recently I had the pleasure to read “Chip War” book by Chris Miller. A wonderful piece of work and a great trip back to the past and present of the semiconductor industry. Especially it gives some clarity to what has been happening in the past and how it led us to the present and nearest future situation.?From the times of Fairchild, Intel Corporation, Sony, Toshiba, Mitsubishi Electric and Texas Instruments to TSMC, AMD, NVIDIA, Apple, ASML, SMIC, Samsung, Huawei, and many other semiconductor world players.

I believe, that in the past several years the importance of semiconductors has become clear to almost everyone around the world. Everyone is speaking about semiconductors. 25 years ago back in school the tech boys were arguing about whose computer has a better CPU and GPU. At that time only a few knew something about semiconductors. Now everything is changing.?

Semiconductors are so deeply involved in our everyday life that we can barely do our everyday routine without them. And more people begin to understand how a piece of silicon influence their life. Of course, it mostly concerns advanced chips for consumer electronics or military applications, as my power semiconductors industry is still underestimated and less popular among young folks. Though, it is definitely about to change in the coming decades with transition to a greener future depending mostly on power semiconductors powering through the way to zero carbon society.?

Semiconductors are the modern gold, and almost every country right now has this semiconductor rush. And this is what “Chip War” is about. Chris Miller explains this rush in a great and joyful to-read way. I sincerely recommend this book to everyone working in the semiconductor industry or to those who are involved in foreign policy and trade relations.
