The Power of Self-belief

According to Collins dictionary:

"Self-belief is confidence in your own abilities or judgment."

--

In the workplace setting, hiring, reward and retention are mostly focused around motivation.

What motivates people?

Why are they applying for this job?

What motivates them to join this company?

--

And these are all very important, especially in an increasingly competitive talent marketplace, within the context of harsher economic dynamics and tougher war for talent.

But often, unintentionally, we overlook a deeper context within the human psyche, anchored mainly on the power of self-belief which is the individual's inherent confidence in their own abilities, talents, gifts and power to be able to contribute in the workplace.

Their inherent power to be.

To be utterly themselves without fear of judgment or consequence.

To be unafraid to be unabashedly true about what they believe in and what holds of utmost importance in their lives.

To be confident in their own gifts and what they can uniquely contribute to the team and organization.

Simply, to just be.

--

And I do see massive leaps around organizational initiatives on intertwining employee engagement with purpose, vision, mission and values and how it ultimately resonates with individual's own personal values and purpose.

These increase focus around purpose and customer-centricity and less around profit and performance.

--

And there is greater impetus for leaders and employers to dive deeper at employee engagement at the level of being.

Being anchored on an individual's capacity and capability of self-belief.

By having more courageous conversations not just about what drives and motivates individuals to contribute and bring their selves to work..

..but even more importantly, by engaging them in discussions on how they can further increase and improve their level of self-belief.

--

For in the end, individuals who inherently believe and are confident in their gifts hold immense power to achieve above and beyond their individual goals and aspirations and aid their companies achieve its organizational goals.

Through authentic encouragement and confidence-building conversations, organizations and leaders alike can help strengthen and further develop..

..the power of self-belief.
