Power Saving Plan: How to Run your Digital Signage Energy-Efficiently ??

In times of scarce #energy supply, the pressure increases on everyone to save energy – that includes #DigitalSignage network operators, as energy-saving measures are now also required in public spaces. As Digital Signage experts, we did not only define structural changes that will need to happen in the long-term in order to reduce energy consumption; we also compiled some Quick Fixes that will help counter the development now. ?

  1. No Continuous Operation: In contrast to what most people think, modern Digital Signage #technology can be shut off completely during non-operating times. Only the inrush current needs to be taken into account. During operating times, users can try switching to dark content (e.g. a black background with white text instead of a white background with black text) – this is a quick and easy way to reduce energy consumption by up to 50%.
  2. Smart Sensors: Switch-on controls can be very useful in completely shutting down Digital Signage installations when they are not in use. Another power-saving measure is offered by integrated brightness or motion sensors. Energy savings of up to 30% can be achieved by adjusting the #display brightness to the time of day and display frequentation.
  3. Active Device Management: Sharp/NEC offers device management solutions for continuous #monitoring of your devices. With the #NEC NaViSet Administrator 2, for example, automated switch-on and switch-off times can be set.
  4. Energy Efficiency in New Installations: When buying a new Digital Signage solution, keep energy efficiency in mind; the selection of the right #technology is crucial, as there are significant differences in the #efficiency and #reparability of the technologies.
  5. Relevance of Repairs: Repairs also have a positive impact on the overall #carbon #footprint of #DigitalSignage and #DooH. Repair, reuse and refurbish your signage instead of discarding it.
