The Power of Routines

The Power of Routines

One simple change that can truly transform your life is establishing a consistent morning and evening routine.

From my experience working with clients, those who implement these routines see significant improvements in happiness, joy, and overall success.

Morning Routine: -

Exercise - Kickstart your metabolism and get your body moving for the day ahead. Studies have shown that on days we exercise we can increase our productivity by up to 72%.

Additionally, if you are dealing with depression or anxiety, exercise has been shown to be 150% more effective than any therapy or drugs on the market. I'm not saying don't take them, but give yourself every chance to be the best you.

Hydration - Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and refresh your system. Your brain is 85% water. And that's only 1 reason why.

Good nutrition - A balanced meal with lots of protein sets a positive tone for your body's energy levels and helps avoid those nasty afternoon desires for sweets and sleep.

Mindfulness - Engage in meditation or prayer, preferably outdoors to soak up some morning sun and centre your mind. Focusing on what you want, filling your mind with positivity and inspiration sets you in the right frame of mind to win your day.

Incorporating these elements into your mornings can set a powerful tone for a happy and productive day.

Evening Routine: -

Preparing for rest - Dim the lights early and avoid blue screens from iPhones, tablets, or computers to signal to your body that it's time to wind down.

Relaxation - You may like to have a bath or shower to help you relax and prepare for bed.

Optimal sleep environment - Ensure your room is cooler than you usually prefer to promote better sleep.

Timing your meals - Eat your last meal at least two hours before going to sleep to aid digestion and rest.

Conscious mental input before you sleep - Finish the night with positive things you want in your life. After all, this will most likely what your mind will be thinking about while you sleep.

I've noticed that people who struggle in the mornings often lack a proper evening routine. If you want your days to go well, starting with reliable morning and evening habits is essential.

I first heard about the importance of routines from Darren Hardy's phenomenal book, 'The Compound Effect,' and it's been a game-changer ever since.

I used to hate routines because they felt restrictive, but once I started following them, I found that they actually gave me more freedom. If you're looking to make a positive change in your life, the first step is to establish solid morning and evening routines. It will make a massive difference, guaranteed.
