The Power of Purpose
Peter Hills
Group Chairman at Vistage UK (awesome groups of leaders determined to be better) iMA Practitioner
This year this phrase has played a powerful part in my life and in the lives of many who have been touched by Vistage. In some cases this is either like me as a Chair (at our National Conference in San Diego in January) or as a member when we work together on retreats to explore what success really is and how we define that as individuals.
We are trained and indoctrinated from an early age that success means passing exams and being the best in class; as we get older the business version is hitting targets and beating the competition.
One of the questions we ask when looking at our purpose (that is our own purpose not our organisations) is:
Does your own purpose reflect what TRULY makes a difference to you and those around you or are you answering as you think you should?
Purpose comes from the heart not from the head. It's why we get up in the morning. It is what makes us feel alive and valued and most importantly; it is what matters most to you.
What would make this year the best year you could possibly have? What are you doing to get you there?
