As we step into this promising 4th quarter, let's ground ourselves in principles that amplify our potential, both as individuals and collective entities. Presenting the Power Principles of Accountability—a roadmap to cultivate a culture of responsibility, transparency, and unwavering commitment.
Accountability isn't just a term or a buzzword; it's the backbone of efficient leadership and the foundation of trust in any organization. Embracing the principles of accountability ensures that an individual, team, or organization doesn't just function, but thrives.
These principles act as a compass, guiding our actions, behaviors, and decisions to resonate with a higher standard of operation. From standing tall during failures to celebrating successes with humility, they emphasize personal responsibility, promote honesty, and nurture a culture where every member feels valued and empowered.
By understanding and internalizing these ten core principles, leaders and teams pave the way for stronger collaborations, increased trust, and enhanced performance. Dive in, reflect upon each principle, and ask yourself: How can I embody these tenets to become the best version of myself and inspire the same in others?

Who knew you could learn so much about leadership at a dude ranch? We spent a week @TheHideout in Wyoming this summer, riding in the mountains, through canyons, valleys and meadows. Get this - I'd never ridden before so I figured I'd ride on the first day and then be too sore to ride the rest of the week. So, I lugged my laptop just in case I'd be inspired to limp over to the pool and get some work done. But something happened on Day One. Not sure what it was, maybe a spiritual experience, maybe it was the enchanted big sky country, or the horse, Saint, who seemed to know I was a newbie.
In either case, the trip taught me trust, (more on that in another newsletter), how to lead a horse and not just be a passenger, how to relax, and how to connect with a small set of strangers who became BFFs so quickly.
But that's like saying the Mona Lisa is just a great painting - you have to experience the art to understand the Masterpiece it is. Same with the trip to Wyoming - saying it was a dude ranch vacation is to liken it to child's play on a pony. It was soooo much more.
I'm already booked to return next year, and the year after - in 2025 - I'm planning a leadership retreat for a small set of leaders. The transformation that's possible for leaders in a setting fostering inner reflection and deeper knowing of oneself is what The Hideout provides. Regardless that the accommodations, food, cabins are top-notch...what really happens is the soul is fed and the spirit is quenched.
More to come for leaders ready for that kind of experience. (No riding experience needed, actually, it's better if you're not an experienced rider.)
What's in the works for the rest of the year?
We're on the home stretch with several books: (I know, I'm an over-achiever who has to have multiple horses in the horse race...not as focused as I hope to be in 2024...)
Leadership Success Series:
Brand Your Leadership - tips and techniques to give your leadership its own brand and create greater impact, internally and externally
Managing the Heat in the C-Suite - those of you who 'get shot at for a living' because every breath you take is over-analyzed will appreciate the tips and techniques to make life a little less stressful and a whole lot more meaningful
Accountability: From Bad Rap to Best Practices - it doesn't have to be punitive, mean, or a chore, because the new model of Accountability flips the switch on the old school approach. Embrace accountability and you will be amazed. Start with The Power Principles of Accountability above and immerse yourself until the book is available.
(We're looking for beta readers for these manuscripts and several more that are under wraps. Send me a "Yes, I'll be a beta reader" email to [email protected] and I'll be in touch. TIA.)

1 年I love the Power Principles, but find it difficult to believe you've never ridden a horse before, Kae Wagner.
