The Power of Presence

The Power of Presence

Perspective Creates your reality

by DRM - Everything you consider your “reality” is in flux. Let me explain -- You are not going to be the person you are right now for long because you are being changed by every thought and reaction... all of what you are experiencing is the temporary status quo you’ve chosen. Or have you? Where you are now is where most people reside their entire lives. We think that we all choose our own path, in some sense, and agree to what life offers us. But are you in disagreement with the path you are on?

When we coach people at FHU (whether on a retreat, with a client, or in a corporate setting), our approach is to meet the audience (we’re speaking to) where they’re at. We understand there are extreme challenges that present themselves in people’s lives, from disease to loss to disastrous environmental circumstances. And because of the events we see an opening for a new consciousness about how to move forward with new mental, emotional and spiritual tools with which to rebuild your life.

Ours is not a viewpoint that we can all get whatever we want when we want it, but one that says, “I’m here, and I’d like to go where God wants me, so how can I move towards that destination?”

We receive questions all the time about how to proceed in a new life direction, and how does it happen... our answer is always, “just start.” It is an unfolding process to run a business, a marriage, a family or improve our health. There are days that make you question why you have never been on the path to your true purpose, days of uncertainty and fear. We have the method to find all the answers, and to develop inward momentum in hundreds of different areas of your life (side note: never forget that failure, which is not inherently a bad thing, because it teaches you many lessons including what you’re not supposed to be working on).

One of the scariest fears we have in life is that we are “stuck”. You feel like you can’t get out of your “programming.” This is where the meditative perspective is powerful, and the mindset you build on top of objective perspective makes everything seem new.

You’ve likely heard the term, “It could always be worse.” Well, it can be. Consider that plenty of people have probably done what you’re attempting to do with less, which means you are certainly capable of (at least) trying. If you find yourself complaining about things that are trivial, it’s time to expand your perspective. Ask, “What am I missing right now?” (this gets us away from complaining about coffee taking too long and planes being delayed). We actually have so much that our ability to see the truth of what we have that doesn't need to be added often gets lost in the overabundance.

Positive perspective is:

  1. Where do I NOT want to go?
  2. Where am I right now (as opposed to where I have been)?
  3. Where have I come from?
  4. What skills or experiences do I need to have to get where I want to go?
  5. When will God help me get where I should to go?

Positive mindset is:

  1. I’m optimistic with the faith I will be shown where to go and what to do.
  2. I am aware of the need for change and accept the challenges I will need to face.
  3. I have surrendered my will and ego so on those days when something will want me to quit and give up, I will not.
  4. I will celebrate my patience and fortune on my way to the destination.

Ultimately, we are not our beliefs; we don't have to agree to them, whether society determined them for us we claim our own destiny(s).

Positivity is a choice.

Optimism is a life decision.

It’s not all long walks in the garden with a bank account full of money; however, the view that life can and will be better because we’ve chosen to gravitate toward a new future is our choice. What can you achieve with the cards you’ve been dealt? How can you serve others with what you have?

Big Question: Who or what do you allow to shape your perspective?

Here’s a quick anecdote to get your mind moving. “Age” is often a manipulator of perspective. Do you let common conceptions or stereotypes about “what someone your age should be doing” shape how you live your life? If you didn’t know your age, how old would you guess you are?

Our most valuable resource is faith; what we choose to do with it is a reflection of our perspective. Some waste life and some make grand use of it. The truth is that we have no idea how much time we really have; it can be taken away in an instant. ITS TIME TO BEGIN.
