The Power of Positive Thinking
According to Google, Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a particular technique […] to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.
For me, meditation is the exercise of focusing on the breathing, in order to clear the mind a bit, and through regular practice, achieve a lasting sense of peace and calm. Some gurus describe meditation as the practice of not thinking, (known as “no thought” or “no mind”) and would suggest that perhaps, the human mind might evolve towards doing less thinking, in the future.
At the very least, through meditating, one can certainly train the mind, and it can have a profound impact on mental and physical health.
Meanwhile, Artificial Intelligence is progressing daily. But in another direction altogether. Computational bandwidth is expanding exponentially. We are training more models than ever, to do more, to do better and to do it more quickly. It seems that whilst some humans are trying to do less thinking, our machine friends are trying to do more.
This month we released Datarobot 7.3. The newest version of our platform and the 4th major release this year. This was released alongside Datarobot Core, which is a new initiative extending the power of DataRobot AI Cloud for code-first data science experts. We now have over 1 million active AI projects. The vision of democratizing AI for all users is central to our DNA at DataRobot. There’s certainly a lot of thinking going on here.
However, as we round out the year and head into the holiday season, perhaps we can remember that, just as Datarobot will not stop improving its AI platform, thinking is not going to become obsolete any time soon. So perhaps we can all practice a bit of self-care and meditation this holiday season, and remember to think kind thoughts about ourselves and others, whenever we can!
