The Power of Podcast in 2024
Terry Gorry
Solicitor specialising in small business, property, employment law. Self employed since 1986. YouTuber, Podcaster
The Two Johnnies, who along with a slew of other radio ‘personalities’ who have recently announced they were leaving RTE 2FM, were interviewed by Brendan O’Connor last weekend.
O’Connor was trying to extract the reason(s) why they were leaving.
And they explained they had a lot going on, a lot on their plate, and were worried about burning out so had to make some choices.
And giving up the 2FM gig was part of that process.
Interestingly, they placed great store on their podcast. They said that this was their first and big love and were happy to go back to it.
How times have changed.
Not too long ago a person would kill to get on the radio and have their own show and audience.
Now, many individuals have their own show and audience, but it is on a podcasting platform.
And the audience they are building can comprise significant numbers of loyal followers, some of which are as large as any audience you might find on a local radio station.
My podcast, which is growing steadily without much effort on my part, is called the Irish Law and Small Business Podcast . You can find it on iTunes, Spotify and anywhere you listen to podcasts.
