Power Platform + Microsoft Teams: Create a "back-channel" internal chat for any meeting

We've all been there - you're on a call with a customer and members of your team and you want to chat with your teammates:

"Is my pitch landing?"

"How am I doing on time?"

"Who wants to take that as a follow-up item?"

Generally, this means manually creating a Teams chat with all internal individuals on the meeting. Because this is a manual process, it's time-consuming (especially when you just need a quick answer) and easy to miss someone when adding individuals.

This issue was brought up by my teammate: "I wish there was an app for that", he ended the thought with.

An introduction to QuickChat

QuickChat is a Power App that pulls in your calendar information from your Office 365 Outlook calendar. The app user can then select a meeting to create the internal chat for.

A Power Automate workflow is then kicked off, grabbing all required attendees for that meeting and then filtering out any individual whose domain (the "@company.com" part of your email) does not match your own domain.

A Teams group chat is then created with all internal, required attendees and is named "INTERNAL - <Meeting Name>". Lastly, the first chat message is sent by the Power Automate bot informing individuals that the chat was created.

The outcome is a Teams group chat, ready for you to use!

For easy access to this app, you can even pin it to the left-side rail in Teams.

Hi Amber. This still continues to be the best PowerPlatform app that I have seen and fits such a great niche. I have a question for you on it. It seems like it is only bringing up items in the last week or so that were created internally? For example customer booked meetings dont show on my calendar list in the tool and used to. These are some of the most important ones for back-channel too! Please feel free to reach out if you need me to show you any details. Thanks again for a great tool!
