POWER OF PLANNING
One of the best parts of the holiday season is watching Christmas movies with your family.
My favorite is an old-time classic, Home Alone.
Most likely, you've already watched it on TV by now.
It's the story about Kevin McCallister.
Kevin and his family were preparing to spend Christmas in Paris.
After a series of events, the family rushes to the airport, leaving Kevin home alone by accident.
To make things worse, he finds out two burglars were planning to break into his house on Christmas eve.
So, there he was.
An 8-year-old against two very experienced burglars.
They had already robbed other houses in the neighborhood.
His house was next.
So, what did Kevin do?
He had every reason possible to be afraid.
Did he allow fear to take over him and do nothing?
Did he just wait for the burglars to take everything that was his?
Quite the opposite, actually.
He stayed calm.
Then, he came up with a plan.
He prepared a strategy to make them go away.
He made them think there was a party inside the house.
He set up several traps inside the house to stop the burglars on their tracks and bring them to justice.
In the end, his strategy worked. He protected his house and saved the day.
Now, besides the fact of never leaving your child alone on Christmas, there's a great lesson inside the movie.
The power of having a plan.
If Kevin had not prepared in advance, the burglars would've robbed his house easily.
Instead, he prepared himself against every possible outcome.
That's what gave him the confidence he needed to succeed.
Next time you know difficulties are coming your way...
Don't allow fear to take over you.
Instead, stay calmed and prepare a plan.
This will allow you to stay focused and achieve your goals.
Happy Holidays!
