Power of the Pivot

In order to accept solutions for one's business, one must master the art of the Pivot. Those who pivot masterfully succeed in all of their endeavors 10x more than people who do not. What is a Pivot? 1 noun the central point, pin, or shaft on which a mechanism rotates or?oscillates. 2 verb turn on or as if on a pivot. 3 verb completely change the way something is done.

My story In 1990, at age 32 my ophthalmologist told me to "Go home, go blind, and have a good life." He diagnosed me with retinist pigmentosa a progressive sight loss condition for which there was no cure or treatment. Still isn't. At that time, I was working toward my dream career as a TV/Film director. Step 1 took 4 years Recognize that there is no going back my eye sight isn't going to return. Step 2 Let go of old "normal" as painful as it is Let go. Step 3 Reinvent a new normal that included circumstances of sight loss. This makes them more powerful. I became a business consultant to help others succeed and uphold their communities. My life is really good.

What I learned... You cannot see the solution if you are a deer in the headlights focused on the problem. You cannot see solutions or people willing to help you. Many a deer gets hit because they don't see the solution till its too late. Ego in fear often stands in the way. Don't let fear keep you from a better plan. Once you get past ego Let Go of the old way of doing things holding onto them will not create success only more problems. Now free Design a new plan that works in the new parameters.

Pivot factors: Outside Influences, Letting Go of ineffective modes, and Accepting a new frame of changes that improve the results sought.

Back in 2020 with all the non essential lockdowns, an older couple who owned an antique store made a great pivot. After they locked their business doors, they opened a cleaning service. The new venture kept money coming in and they both faced the opportunity with gratitude. Once the lockdown was lifted, they reopened the antique store.... Now they had two businesses! They hired help in both ventures. Doubled their previous income. (They became Entrepreneurs)

Looking forward into 2023 more impactful outside forces will happen. Business owners will need to pivot several times if they decide they want to stay in business. The time has come for new skills, new insights, and a better plan. Business as we all have been used to will be no more. Accept the Boy Scout motto: Prepare for the worst. Hope for the best.
