The Power of Persistence
There lived a man in India, named Dashrath Manji who lost his wife due to lack of access to medical care. He had to travel around a large mountain to get to the nearest medical center to get medical care which was too late for his wife. He worked alone relentlessly and with utmost persistence to carve a path through the mountain so that others wouldn’t face the same challenge he had encountered. His work shortened the travel time for all his villagers by several miles. The key part is the time he worked on the project - 22 years. This is the power of persistence. He persisted amongst all odds to carve a path that benefited so many in his neighborhood. His efforts earned him the name "mountain man" in India.
Every day we face struggles similar to one that India's mountain man, faced that pull us backward rather than forward. In those moments of struggle remember to persist. Several of my innovations happened when I had to persist through real life problem where there was no solution.
Many times in our own life, we might be very close to a solution for a difficult problem we face, but we give up too soon. As Thomas Edison said, "Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up."
Could we persist like Dashrath Manji to solve the biggest challenges in our life? What could we do today as a person to build the persistence that provides us with best path forward.
