The Power of Persilience: Celebrating Gender Parity & Global Opportunities
Open Banking Excellence (OBE)
Global centre of community and knowledge driving change in Open Banking/Open Finance through content and connections.
Reflecting on International Women’s Day, we wanted to share how OBE embraces the power of ‘persilience’ an amalgamation of resilience and persistence in our commitment to diversity and empowerment in Open Banking throughout the year. With this year’s theme of inclusion resonating globally, we’re proud to continue our Pass the Mic campaign, which drives for balanced gender representation in the sector.
?At the start of January 2023, we set an ambitious goal to achieve a 50/50 split for all our Campfire sessions. Proudly, we’ve surpassed this target, hitting a 62% female participation rate this year! This achievement illustrates our dedication to holding ourselves to account and continually striving for greater inclusion.
At OBE, a promise of accountability and equality is in our DNA. Beyond advocating, we actively elevate women's voices, ensuring they’re heard loud and clear. We encourage everyone, men and women alike, to support and uplift the talented females in their networks, helping to share their insights and build an environment brimming with diversity and innovation.

Did our latest Campfire ignite your interest in how interoperability can unlock global Open Banking innovation? “Cross-border collaboration is key to Open Banking’s future,” said David Head from 萬事達卡 in our most popular virtual Campfire yet.
February’s Campfire didn’t meet expectations; it smashed them, setting a new OBE record with 539,000 impressions, 129,000 video views, and over 1.2 million engagements from over 40 countries. This landmark session resulted from meticulous preparation, strong partner support, vibrant community engagement, and valuable insights from our host, Elizabeth Lumley from The Banker and speakers, Lauren Jones from Konsentus , Simon Lyons from obconnect , David Head from Mastercard and Tom Bull from 安永 .
Together, they contributed to a phenomenal discussion on solving interoperability challenges to unleash cross-border Open Banking innovation, a topic resonating deeply within our global community. It's not just about setting technical standards but also fostering a collective willingness among regulators, banks, and market participants to embrace Open Banking. Our panel highlighted the importance of minimising operational changes and focusing on regional collaborations that make sense from a trade and value perspective.
We carefully curate a balanced and independent conversation to help you with the ever-increasing challenge of navigating information overload. We gather the industry experts around our Campfire to inform and inspire, ?providing you with the research, analysis, and context you tell us you’re looking for to navigate the complexities in our fast-paced sector.

Open Banking in Europe is entering its sixth year, and the market is maturing. Whilst we’re seeing little movement in the leaderboard (both by home-regulated TPPs and by passported-in TPPs), the number of TPPs continues to grow.
As with Konsentus ’ previous reports, looking at net growth alone only tells half the story. There were 41 regulatory permission changes over the second half of 2023, a figure similar to the 45 recorded in the first half of the year. This does not include all the additional passporting changes, making checking the national registers for every transaction so important.
