The Power of People: Why We Thrive When We Care

The Power of People: Why We Thrive When We Care

In a world driven by numbers and metrics (and, of course, performance metrics), it is easy to lose sight of the human element. But please, always remember - we are all humans. But the truth is, our greatest asset in any endeavor is the people we share it with.

Think about it. Our most impactful moments, both personal and professional, often revolve around connection. A supportive colleague who cheers us on. Thanks God I have found angels in my life and I hope life-long colleagues (like Ishanka Weerasekara , Hebatullah Abdulazeem , Ana Beatriz Pizarro , Nathalia Sernizon ). At the same time, a mentor who offers invaluable guidance. Indeed, I am more than lucky because for that, I have an uncountable list of guardian angels, including Tina Poklepovic Pericic , Ana Marusic , Matteo Bruschettini , Roberto Gonzalez Duarte , Fernanda Carvalho , Bruno Ramos Nascimento , and many others).

People are the heart and soul of any team, organization, and ultimately, society. If you are a manager, take care of these relationships. They are critical. When we prioritize their well-being, we unlock a powerful synergy and improve all sorts of outcomes.

Let's try to make a conscious effort to care about the people around us. Here are a few ways to start:

  • Practice active listening. Give someone your undivided attention and truly hear what they have to say.
  • Offer genuine encouragement. A simple "you've got this" can make a world of difference.
  • Celebrate achievements, big and small. Recognition goes a long way in boosting morale.
  • Emphasize empathy and understanding. Put yourself in someone else's shoes and offer support.

By investing in our relationships, we create a ripple effect of positivity. We build a culture of care that fosters loyalty, engagement, and ultimately, an environment where everyone thrives.

Metrics speak to the brain - a good colleague speaks to the heart. The right blend of both truly makes science a delight ??. Thanks for making the projects you lead delightful.

Love this
