Power in People and Organizations: Collaborate to Win

Power in People and Organizations: Collaborate to Win

Fresh off Advantage Group International’s (AGI) leadership kick-off in the breathtaking Niagara Falls, I feel energized by our leadership team (no, it wasn’t the -20°C windchill!). The event was a powerful reminder of the roles that effective teamwork and collaboration play in success.?

As I embark on my first year as CEO of AGI, one thing is clear: people and organizations work #bettertogether. This is how success is nurtured.?

For over 35 years, AGI has been privileged to be a trusted partner in the supplier-retailer ecosystem, working with thousands of organizations in over 40 markets to improve B2B relationships. We’ve been at the frontlines to witness how #B2B engagement has become as critical as employee engagement.??

?The State of Business Collaboration: 2024 and Beyond?

Our analysis of tens of thousands of B2B relationships validates that success isn’t about outperforming your competitor but about the strategic partnerships you build with your key business partners.? Our data reinforces the significance of cross-team engagement as a key driver of commercial success.??

? Companies that align their strategies with business partners build more cohesive, resilient relationships.??

? Organizations that focus on breaking down internal silos foster cross-team collaboration, encouraging efficiency and problem-solving.??

? Businesses that implement a continuous feedback cycle—listening to employees, markets, and clients—ensure holistic and targeted improvement.??

??The Data Speaks for Itself: Our researchers found that suppliers with superior Advantage Report scores (top-tier performers) enjoy approximately 27% higher annualized revenue growth than their lowest-performing counterparts.?

What’s the link? Top-tier performers in Advantage Report are organizations that have been rated by their business partners on their performance—including partnership (their current ways of working and generating advocacy) and reputation (future view of alignment and thinking.?

It’s instinctive for people to think about the risks of providing feedback. What if it doesn’t go well? What if I damage the relationship? What is not instinctive for people is to think about the risks of not providing feedback. The relationship might be damaged if you give feedback poorly but if you don’t give the feedback, the relationship will definitely be damaged. And the person will continue doing what they are doing without the awareness you could have provided. What if what they are doing is limiting their career prospects and you could have helped? Something to think about.

True words indeed Peter Harris and the stat around top tier relationships resulting in 27% more growth is compelling! In a world where there seems to be ever increasing friction, this is a timely reminder that collaboration is a better and smarter way. ??
