The Power of One Vote!!!!
Top of the weekend my friends! I believe it was William Shakespeare who once said “Let us not burden our remembrances with a heaviness that is gone.”?
However challenging experiences are most often the guiding light for how to handle those things that are to come.
The mid-term elections are this year. I hope and pray you never take that privilege for granted. I would vote for the dog catcher, if it was on the ballot and I don’t own a dog!?
Which is why today, I wanted to review the power of your vote!
For instance, here’s a history lesson on how one vote changed the way we live.
In 1776, continental congress voted to make english as America’s national language instead of German by one vote.
In 1845, Texas was brought into the Union by one vote.
In 1868, then President Andrew Johnson was saved from impeachment by one vote.
In 1876, the electoral collage elected Rutherford B. Hayes as President of the United States by one vote.

In 1923, Hitler was given leadership of the Nazi party by one vote.
In 2000, Bush vs Gore was decided by one vote in a 5-4 decision by the Supreme Court. For the record “W” won Florida by 537 votes. If Gore would have won his own state this would not have been an issue.?
In 2016, the Affordable Health Care act was saved by one vote.?
The late John McCain was the Senator who got credit for that one. His reason was there was nothing set up to replace health coverage for millions of Americans. I sure he got a “Well Done” in his new job assignment.
In 2018, Judge Brett Kavanaugh needed just one vote to be confirmed to the Supreme Court and he got it.
Who knows the unintended consequences of not using your one vote??
So don’t complain if you don’t use yours!
One closing suggestion about the voting process. We all can agree regardless of party. Nearly all political advertisements have a tendency to stretch the truth. Before you cast that ballot, do a online search on the candidates. Who knows you might run across a revelation that almost faked you out.
As you can see one vote can change the world. Will it be yours? Now it’s doughnut time! Have a great day and a better week! Bon Appétit!!
