The Power of Now
‘The Power of Now’ is a Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment written by Eckhart Tolle and it has nothing to do with this newsletter (I just stole the title).
Looking at some of the incredible recent sales in the local market (particularly at the top) reveals a common theme - there are a lot of people that want little to do.
Turn key is in. Building costs, long delays and dealing with local Council are out. Makes sense, I mean, if you have the money, why wait? In the modern age it seems we are more comfortable with the burden of debt than the burden of dealing with builders (if you can find one). Seriously, trying to find a good builder at the moment is like trying to find a fun place to go in Mosman after 9pm.
If there is one thing COVID has taught us, it’s the value of our time and if there are two things that renovating has taught me, it’s the value of patience and mindfulness. Kids, if you haven’t done it before let me tell you, you will need to read Eckhart’s book.
Many rock solid couples have come undone arguing over things like tap ware or what tile pattern the splashback should be...it’s a minefield. Think being trapped in IKEA for 6 months and you are on the right track.
During the week I was watching a well-known speaker state ‘if you want to make money, solve someone else’s problems’, the market agrees.
There is real value emerging in the market for the patient, but maybe it makes sense to borrow more and dodge the drama?
Shucks, I don’t know...what I do know is that our team is on fire at the moment and we have some great houses coming up.
Wishing you all a happy and safe long weekend,
Until next week,
David Murphy
