The power of networking

The power of networking

Last month has been a bit of a turmoil for me, I was laid off and it has shaken me off a bit.

The main word around this newsletter is THANKS! I want to thank you all who are contacting me and referring me to job openings. Also let me know If I can help you out as well.

I was happy at Solvd, although I was not working as a Project Manager, which I love to do. So I decided to look for a Project Manager role somewhere else.

I have been comparing and keeping track of how many companies do I have to talk to to get a new role.

This time it took me a considerable number of conversations less.

In a relative short time I had two offers, EY and Scalio. I was at the crossroad between one of the big four and a mid-sized agency. The philosophy behind one job and the other was completely different.

In this gloomy horizon where stanflation or recession are being presented as the options, clearly the big company was the better option. I made a mistake.

Now I am looking for a job (it's week 2 already) and I have been very surprised by the reaction of my connections, I'm getting tagged, referred and even asked to participate in selection processes, sometimes from people I don't know personally, and many times the conversation starts "I have been following you and your work here in Linkedin for a while..."

This is an inflection point for me, because everything I have been doing in Linkedin all these years, even if sometimes doubt myself, is supportive to others.

I've been creating some initiatives such as #10tipsonlinkedin, where I provided others with some tips on how to improve your profile (if you are a beginner or not, as I see that so many people still don't have basic stuff such as profile picture, banner picture, etc.)

I have also launched a paid course where I provide assistance with this.

And the thing I do which I love the most is #meetleoscontacts

You rock, Leo. And here are my 5 cents on how you made it with #meetleoscontacts. You asked people to walk out of their comfort zone and make an intro video for your feed. By this you showed them that: ?? no one notice things you feel embarrassed ?? they can achieve something they wouldn't even think they can ?? it's easier than they thought it would be Those three acknowledgments are priceless, at least to me. So, how do you expect, when you brought so much value to every individual in your network, they won't do for you anything in return? ??
