The Power of the Network = NET WORTH

I am taking bets on this one! I am betting that the majority of us are reading this article on our smart phone. So let's see if I am correct.

For the first time in history we literally have the world in the palm of our hands. There are no boundaries! You can watch a YouTube video that was posted one second ago in Tokyo while you are sipping coffee in Oregon. The world is literally at our fingertips.

What does this mean to you and what does it mean to your business? It means that you are now the network. Your ratings are tendered by the global market in the form of likes, subscriptions invitations and views. You can become an overnight sensation with something silly or you can deliver tremendous value to those who need to hear what you are saying. This can be measured and quantified and even become transactional.

Back to the phone! You have a directory of contacts, you have a host of social media platforms, and you have other software like CRM's, mailing lists, and accounting software that has a variety of database features and they can all be accessed on your phone. What is my point?

You need to "organize to monetize!" It is OK for some to share dog pictures, and recipes and sally's first soccer game but for others, this means business. I invite you to audit yourself.

First Step: Make sure you have yourself listed as a contact in your phone and make sure that the information is correct. I promise if you do this you will find that you have been sharing info within your contact that is out of date and confusing. I get them all the time. A contact will be sent over with old email addresses, 3 phone numbers and confusing job titles. Fix your contact card on your phone to reflect what you are currently doing. Do this today!

Second Step: Go through your social media profiles and update them. Make sure they match your contact card. Make sure they are consistent so that no matter where you are found you are being found correctly. Do not publish confusing job titles and be concise about what it is that you do!

Third Step: Create an actionable item on all of your sites, including your website, that leads your prospects to a place where they can cause an advance in your business. Lead them to an opt-in page where they can learn how to do business with you. Lead them to a shopping cart where they can buy something from you. Lead them to a calendar where they can schedule an appointment with you! Lead them and they will follow! Turn prospects into potential clients by adding value!

The phone that you have in your hand will light up like the Empire State Building if you map out your process to lead your prospects through value chain that helps them to get what they want from you. After all, you are the network and the world is watching.

If you deliver value and you have a following then by all means capitalize! This will be a sliver in time in the history books because the big players are furiously trying to figure this out. It is our job and my mission to beat them to the punch!
