This week was my last week in uniform. Clearly you reflect at a time like this and fate (and this network) has made that easy:
- On Monday, whilst many of the team were meeting the King and Prince of Wales in Middle Wallop – such a special day for the Army Air Corps – I was invited to host Officer Cadets from Sandhurst. It was fitting to be talking to the me of 20 years ago about possible future careers and a joy to answer their many questions on life in the Army.
- On Wednesday I spent the afternoon celebrating the formation of the Joint Aviation Command with a 100 or so great friends and colleagues in the presence of the Chief of the General Staff. The Aviation Command is an iteration of the Joint Helicopter Command which formed only a few years before I became a member of it.
- On Thursday it was my turn to ask the questions about future careers at the City Veterans annual dinner. What a brilliant group of people supporting a brilliant charity The Not Forgotten. Look them both up if you don’t know who they are, especially if you are on your way out of the military or in need of support once you are.
So, in 5 days the power of the network has allowed me to support the next generation, celebrate the last 2 decades and look forward to the coming chapter – incredible. Cheers and here's to the next 2 decades.
