The Power of Music in Advertising

The Power of Music in Advertising

In advertising, memorability matters, but effective ads do more than just create memories. While it’s important for consumers to remember the message in your ad, connecting on an emotional level can directly lead to a purchase. So the best ads are the ones that have both information and emotive power.

Let us look at a few campaigns that use music or audio brilliantly.

Google - "Parisian Love"

Parisian Love is a story told entirely in search terms and results. Each entry leads to the next and unfolds a classic human romance: studying abroad in Paris, impressing a French girl, managing a long-distance relationship, and relocating permanently to start a family.

Apple iPod - "Silhouettes"

The Silhouette advertising campaign, which featured silhouettes of people dancing with white iPods and earbuds, became an instant cultural phenomenon. Music and dance were integral to the success of the silhouette campaign. The ads featured a range of musical genres and dance styles, from hip-hop to rock to country.

De Beers - "I Do" and " A Diamond is forever" campaign

The campaign is about expanding the meaning of the two iconic words ‘I do.’ in a powerful, authentic and unexpected way. ‘I do.’ embodies today’s new generation, committing not only to timeless wedding vows but also to all the things they believe in, expanding their meaning to stand for personal pledges of all kinds: to love, friendship, family, society, nature and more.

Nike - "Dream Crazy"

Nike's "Dream Crazy" campaign is a 2018 ad campaign that encourages people to find their voice, break barriers, and stand up for what they believe in. The campaign is part of Nike's 30th anniversary "Just Do It" campaign, and features American football player Colin Kaepernick.
