In life, you have a few opportunities to make a big, giant change.
You might call these your power moves.
Case in point, when I got fed up with California politics, I moved my family to Florida.
Rather than put up with another unnecessary tax hike, I did a power move and took my life and my business to another state.
Your life has given you some opportunities to make a power move.
Maybe it’s when you unexpectedly stepped up and grabbed that promotion at work when nobody else saw it coming.
Perhaps, it was when you called that one person in power who was able to change the trajectory of your entire life.
Power moves happen when you move with confidence, speed, and even swagger.
Confidence:
It takes confidence to take action regardless of your fears. Soldiers and heroes never refer to themselves as brave before they make a power move—they’re just doing what they have to do in order to survive in that moment.
Fear is something every person faces, but the way to defeat it is by attacking, dominating, and keeping your attention on the future. Once you more frequently do the things that scare you, they’ll continue to scare you less and less until you wonder why they scared you in the first place.
Ultimately, that fear becomes the confidence you never knew you had.
Successful people carry themselves with confidence because they take action rather than thinking, waiting, and wondering.
Speed:
Practice moving with speed and urgency in your decisions. Watch how people start responding to you.
Become ferocious in every action.
When you move with speed and urgency in everything you do, you will begin to make more power moves.
Swagger:
The dictionary defines swagger as walking or behaving in a very confident and typically arrogant or aggressive way.
You may need a little swagger to make a power move because sometimes mere confidence isn’t enough, you need big-time aggression that appears to others as arrogance.
So many people have called me “arrogant or cocky” over the years, it doesn’t even bother me.
“Don’t criticize my swag, find yours!”
