The Power of Mindset

The Power of Mindset

Hey there, dope people!

I read a quote recently from Myles Munroe that said, “Keep your head and your heart going in the right direction, and you will not have to worry about your feet,” and it made me think of the power of our mindset in helping us reach where we want to be.

Most of our role models are where they are because of the mindsets they held.

The late Kobe Bryant had the “Mamba Mentality” - which was simply trying to get better every day at whatever you’re doing, and this mindset propelled him to the highest levels of athletic excellence.

So, does our mindset really matter? And why should you care?

What is Mindset?

Your mindset is basically how you view the world and yourself. It’s the set of beliefs and attitudes that influence how you view and approach opportunities and challenges.

There are generally two types of mindsets: fixed and growth. The fixed mindset is one where one believes that their abilities, talents, and intelligence are set in stone. They think you’re either born with success and greatness within you, or you’re not.

On the other hand, the growth mindset is where one believes that with effort, practice, and perseverance, they can improve and develop their abilities.

Imagine you’re playing a video game. If you believe you can’t get past a certain level, you’ll probably give up quickly. But if you think you can figure out a way to beat it, you’ll keep trying different strategies until you succeed. That’s the difference mindset makes.

When you have a growth mindset, you’re not afraid of challenges. You know that even if you fail, it’s just a part of the learning process. This belief in yourself can boost your confidence and push you to try things you never thought possible.

Whether it’s acing your exams, learning a new skill, or starting a business, a growth mindset fuels your motivation and persistence.

But, we also need to understand that mindset isn’t everything. It has to be paired with actual effort and hard work.

This week, I’d like for us to be mindful of what beliefs dominate our thoughts. Believe in your ability to win. Believe that failure is inevitable, but that every failure is a lesson from which you learn how to come back better.

And finally, put in the work. Cheers!
